| A solo classical guitar performer, composer,bandleader, multi-instrumentalist, multimedia visual artist, filmmaker and instructor. Kansas City born guitarist Chris Hudson has performed and studied classical guitar since the age of 13. Chris' style reflects the influences of American rock and folk music, and Latin, jazz and world music. The Kansas City Guitar Society featured Chris as a performer for its Plaza library, Kemper Gallery and Loose Park series of classical guitar concerts from 1995
to the current 2005-2006 concert season.
He has also performed at local Kansas City midwestern coffeehouses, clubs and bookstores, including the Cup & Saucer, Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, The Kemper Museum of Modern Art and Eden Alley and has a couple of Cd's of original works for classical guitar: Three Portents and Patagonia. Chris also has a huge archive of Experimental Electronica Post-Rock Compositions with the multitrack project "LODI" and is currentley putting together a pop album with him singing and playing all of the instruments.
While gaining experience as a solo and group performer, Chris pursued formal musical training under Classical Guitarist Douglas Niedt at the University of Missouri's Conservatory of Music in Kansas City. His classical guitar repertoire, while extensive before attending UMKC, grew in scope and breadth of understanding and interpretation. Chris now performs works that range in style and difficulty, from the compositions of J.S. Bach, Villa Lobos and Astor Piazzolla to the music of John Fahey, Nick Drake and Hank Williams. Chris' original compositions complete his varied repertoire.
Chris is also a visual artist painter and a video filmmaker. In the last 3 years has been making experimental music dv videos, Winning the Best Experimental Film Catagory in the 2005 Kansas City Jubilee Film Festival for "the Sheep", Chris is currentely directing, filming, editing and composing music for "Centropolis" which will be released sometime in 2006.
